Doctoral program in Design and Innovation

The research school was founded in April 2005 as a partnership between research areas in six universities and one research institution. The legal foundation was finalized in 2006 and can be read here

Each of the participating research areas carry out both education and research at their home university or institution. The close cooperation through participation in the research school will expand already existing cooperation and will facilitate contributions to international research activities. As each of the participating research areas are not large seen in an international scale, the formalized cooperation will create a more extensive research environment for the school’s PhD students. Moreover, the research school will further develop the scientific network through a closer organizational collaboration and will support the expansion with resources targeted towards mutual activities.

From the beginning the research school chose to cooperate with and be associated to the Centre for Innovation in Product Development (www.cipu.dk) due to overlap of participating institutions and for the purpose of utilizing the centre’s industrial and other contacts. Furthermore, several innovation research environments cooperating with other research schools have been established, among others one at Copenhagen Business School.
